Alexandre Madureira

I work at the Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics at LNCC-Laboratorio Nacional de Computacao Cientifica, a research lab in Brazil.

My areas of interest are Applied Math and Numerical Analysis, especially singular perturbed problems and  its analysis and modeling from  PDE and numerical points of view. These problems are usually related to multiscale phenomena. Examples of applications include, but are not limited to, plate modeling, materials with rough surface, (nano)composites, and neuroscience. My favorite tools to investigate such problems include variational principles,  asymptotic analysis, and Multiscale Finite Element Methods.
Recently I became interested in mathematical neuroscience.

My background

I was born in Rio de Janeiro (Cidade Maravilhosa) , Brazil !! You can see also some of the places that I've visited before. I also put together some few information about Petrópolis , hoping that these might be useful for LNCC visitors.
